Preparing Your Heart by Praising God Praise God: For what you - TopicsExpress

Preparing Your Heart by Praising God Praise God: For what you know about Him. Acknowledge His characteristics and His names, but make it personal. Praising God using one of His characteristics: "Lord, You are all powerful. You have the power to keep the universe in order, the power to move mountains, the power to change peoples...the power to keep all Your promises and remain faithful to Your Word. If You have all that power, You certainly have the power to change me!” Use the alphabet A to Z and praise Him for His characteristics: Lord, You are all-knowing (Ps 147:5), all-powerful, all-loving... You are builder of everything (Heb. 3:4)... You are caring, compassionate (Ps 145:9), and changeless (Heb1:12)... You are the defender of widows (Ps. 68:5)... You are the eternal God (Deut. 33:27), the everlasting God (Is 40:28), the exalted God (Micah 6:6)... Praise His Name: You are Abba, my Father (Rom. 8:15)... You are the Holy One of Israel (Is. 12:6), Lord Almighty (Ps 46:7)... You are the Word of God (Rev. 19:13), the Messiah (John 1:41), the great Shepherd (Heb 13:20)...You are my Lord and Savior (2 Peter 3:18) Anchoring Deeper: More on the names of God More on the characteristics of God For what you see that’s attributable to God. Take a walk and look, really look around you, and praise God for the glorious creation all around you: “Lord, I praise You for the beauty of the sky, for the warmth of the sun, for bringing the sun up every morning and the moon out in the evening. I praise you for the beauty of the beach, for the little sandpipers that scurry along, for the individual beauty of millions of different seashells, for waves that consistently wash the shore, and for the sand on the beach...and to think that Your thoughts of me out number the millions of granules of sand (Ps 139:18)! How I praise You God!” Anchoring Deeper: To read what others see of God works around them, try reading some of these passages: Genesis 1-2; Job 37:1-13; Job 38; Psalm 8, 65:8-13, 104, 139 For what you read about Him in the Bible. Praise God Through the Psalms Read one or more Psalms and praise God for how he is revealed. For example, from Ps. 25:1-5: “To you O Lord I do lift up my soul (and my voice)! It is only in You that I trust. I believe what Your Word says, that ‘No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame.’ Please show me Your ways and teach me Your paths. Give me the strength and courage to be obedient to Your Truth and Your teaching. For You are my God. You are my Savior. And You are my hope, today and tomorrow. In You and You alone do I trust!” If you’re musically inclined, compose your own psalm, a song, that magnifies and glorifies the greatness of God! Link to one of the pages on God’s characteristics or His Names, read through the passages slowly and praise God for how He has revealed Himself to you. One of my favorite places read in the Bible and praise God is in Revelation. I find that as I praise God as I read how we will praise Him when we see Him face to face. Try some of these passages from the book of Revelation: 1:4-8; 4:8, 11; 5:9-14; 7:10-17; 15:3-4; 19:1-8; 21:1-14, 21-27; 22:1-21.
