President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf have over the years proven herself - TopicsExpress

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf have over the years proven herself to be incompetent at handling and carrying out the functions of the presidency of Liberia. Now she seems to be deliberately making a mockery of the office. Her insensitivity at the death of Mr. Patrick Sawyer, an official in her government was considered a one-of situation. Her most recent gaffe with regards to the case of Mr. Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian national recently diagnosed of Ebola in Texas, is a clear demonstration of how heartless, clueless and obnoxious she has become. Lets assume Mr. Duncan filled out a medical declaration form before leaving Liberia, how was he to know that the pregnant woman he had assisted was infected with the Ebola virus? Duncan it has been reported was screened three times before his departure and cleared to travel. He came to the United States where it was discovered that his symptoms were in the early stages. He did the most responsible thing to report to a hospital for treatment. He was sent back home and his family knowing of lurking dangers responsibly contacted the CDC (Center for Disease Control), which launched the appropriate measures to contain the situation. It saddens me that President Sirleafs knee-jerk reaction is to launch a smear campaign against Mr. Duncan. Her government is now also threatening legal actions against Thomas Eric Duncan. How stupid can that be? One will assume that if there was any justification for lawsuit, the United States should be the one contemplating such actions. If any crime was committed; which in this case there wasnt. Why is President Sirleaf going all out to vilify a fellow Liberian who took advantage of an opportunity to reconnect with family he has been away from for years. If she is taking such an ill-advised position, how does she expect the government and people of the United States to react towards Liberians living this country? Is she aware of the possible stigmatization she is subjecting Liberians in the United States to? Should we all now be suspected of having had contact with someone who recently traveled from Liberia with Ebola? There have been numerous calls for the resignation of President Sirleaf over the years, it has become quite clear to me that President Sirleaf, based on her mishandling of the Ebola crisis and other issues need to step down. Her government have failed at every challenge put before it. I personally just cannot see what case can be made on her behalf to justify her inaction on this and many other issues over the years.
