President Hifikepunye Pohamba has met a group of ten engineers from Zimbabwe at State House. The Head of State says the people of Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Angola and Mozambique shared trenches in their fight against colonialism and apartheid oppression until freedom and independence were achieved. President Pohamba recalls that during the liberation struggle, the white minority rulers in Namibia denied the indigenous people quality education and left the country without an educated work force. He dwelt on a number of current challenges facing Namibia, especially in the fields of housing and road construction, urging the engineers to help the country find a lasting solution to them. The president reminded the engineers of the importance of the Zimbabwe-Namibia cooperation dating back to the years of fighting against foreign occupation. A group of 65 engineers arrived from Zimbabwe earlier in 2013. Works and Transport Minister Erkki Nghimtina, under whose ministry the expatriates resort, accompanied the group of team leaders to State House. Nghimtina expressed satisfaction with the work done by the group so far in helping the ministry implement its capital projects.
