Press Release: On 10/30/2014 at 10:53PM Tipton County emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of county road 400 south and county road 500 west for a cardiac arrest resulting from a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive female, Karla Wolford of Tipton, inside the residence in the 3900 block south on 500 west being attended to by Phillip Anthony Epperly of Tipton. Deputies performed CPR on Wolford until Paramedics arrived but were unable to resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Preliminary investigation into the crash revealed Epperly was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer west on county road 400 south with Wolford as a passenger. The vehicle traveled through the stop sign at county road 500 west and into the driveway of the residence. The vehicle struck a fence alongside the driveway before striking a swing set, tree and utility pole in the yard before coming to rest. Upon release from the hospital Epperly was arrested and taken to the Tipton County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and reckless homicide. The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Indiana State Police, Seals Ambulance Service and the Cicero Township Volunteer Fire Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
