Press Release – For Immediate Release March 14, 2014 Smart Growth Initiatives – A Case Study for Forge Pond First is the Friend’s of Forge pond – NJ presentation on Smart Growth Initiatives – A case Study for Forge Pond. This event will be presented at the Brick Library, this coming Wednesday from 7:30 – 8:30pm. We would suggest arriving around 7pm, as we do not know how many people will attend. The speakers will be John Zingis, a professional environmental consultant and environmental planner and Michael Morton, a banking analyst with expertise in corporate financial reports and business models. The presenters will be discussing 1) the history of Forge Pond – How did we get where we are, 2) the environmental/economic significance of the property and 3) How Smart Growth Initiatives and Ideas can be applied to this site for overall community development. The approximate 40 minute presentation will be followed by an open public discussion, including questions. Friends of Forge Pond – NJ strongly believe the basis of Smart Growth begins with the stakeholder process, followed by continued transparent discussions of what would benefit the overall community. True Smart Growth contains an economic, environmental and social benefit to the community. One of the proposed goals for the site development includes the restoration of the Forge Pond Riparian Buffer. It’s a 150 foot wide area adjacent to the pond that can be restored from almost 100% paved / concrete areas to a functional small boat launch pad, walking path, observation points and the installation of indigenous plant species. This area would begin at Route 70 and extend around the perimeter of the property and tie into the path to the County Golf Course and Salmon Street. Friends of Forge Pond believe whole heartedly that this project can start this year and can be privately funded and constructed with the businesses and volunteers of our community. Friends of Forge Pond believe this is Brick’s last chance to turn the largest undeveloped parcel into a project that will be the focal point of our community. Please take the time to attend. Please note that this is not an Ocean County Library Sponsored Event.
