Pretty excited today!! The VA has been trying to get my uncle (Ray) to move into an assisted living facility for over a year now. I know this is the last thing my Uncle wants to do. The VA feels he can no longer take care of the things he needs to do to continue living on his own. We have been able to get the help of an aid who comes in every Monday and I have been able to help with cleaning his apartment and laundry but has become somewhat difficult to keep up in the last few months. Last month I applied to elder services of Spokane for help. Today I received a call from one of their reps and she told me they would be able to start helping my uncle with keeping his apt. up and also with laundry. this will make a huge difference in his quality of life. I know how worried he has been about the possibility of having to give up his independence and also the freedom of living on his own. I have been worried that I might get sick and no longer be able to help him so this is also I huge relief for me.
