Pride He stood quietly, all on his own with his head held high in his old raggedy clothes. He watched as everyone passed him by, glancing at him as they moved on. He tried to speak to them but no one would speak back. So he still just stood there with his head held high. Then one day another man passed by, but this man stopped and spoke "sir, is everything okay? I have passed by so many times just like the others and never payed you any attention." The proud man just stood there holding his head up high, but this time he smiled the biggest heart felt smile. So the gentleman decided to just walk on. The next day the people passed by as always, but this time there was no man, for he had passed away. He had no family and no friends but he had always had his pride. He was a military veteran. No one knew anything about the old man just that he always stood in the same spot with his head held high. This just shows us all that we never pay attention to people that are alone. We are too busy being self centered that those that have no one die alone. The only difference is that this old man died knowing that one person out of the entire world cared enough to stop and talk to him. He died a proud man.
