Priest, catechist murdered in Papua New Guinea Catholic World News - May 14, 2014 A priest has been murdered in Papua New Guinea, the victim of tribal rivalries in the Pacific nation. Father Gerry Mary Inao was ordained in August 2013. Benedict, a catechist who accompanied him, was also brutally murdered. A local priest who knew Father Inao told Vatican Radio that the priest was “very diligent, committed, and a great believer in God. He never left his Rosary beads. He believed that Mary his mother was on his side, and in fact he adopted the name of Mary before his surname. The bishop ordained him on that basis.” “May his death be a catalyst for peace for the warring tribes in Kunimaipa Valley,” Father Casmiro Kito added.
