Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif completes his China’s visit GUANGZHOU, July 8 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday left here after completing his successful five days official visit to China. At the airport, the Deputy Provincial Governor, Assistant Foreign Minister, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan saw off the Prime Minister. From Pakistan’s side Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abass Jilani, Ambassador Masood Khalid, Consul General Guangzhou Babar Amin and senor diplomats were also present at the airport. During his visit, Prime Minister visited Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou. In Beijing, Prime Minister held detailed and constructive meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. The Prime Minister also discussed with the Chinese leadership how to address the country’s energy problem and development of infrastructure. The two countries signed eight Memorandum of Understanding and Agreements following the meeting between Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Premier Li Keqiang including Pakistan-China Economic Corridor accord. The Prime Minister also held detailed meetings with heads and chief executives of banks, financial institutes and corporate leaders. In these meetings, Prime Minister said that Pakistan is faced with energy shortfall as a result our economic development was affecting. He invited heads and chief executives of Chinese enterprises to come forward and help Pakistan in setting up power plant and development of infrastructures. The Prime Minister also discussed with Chinese companies for High-Speed railway network from Karachi to Peshawar to ensure comfortable journey to the masses. Terming the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor as ‘Game Changer’, Prime Minister informed at these meetings that Special Economic Zone would also be set up along the Corridor that would provide immense business opportunities to population living in surrounding areas. At the meetings with Chinese leadership, the Prime Minister said China has agreed to waive off the condition of insure cover on Chinese projects. The Prime Minister also met with Chairman National People’s Congress Zhang Deijang. Both leaders exchanged views on bilateral relationship and means to cement it further.The Prime Minister visited Shanghai on Saturday in state of the art High Speed Train. During the journey, Prime Minister held a number of meetings. He also talked with the senior officials of the High Speed management project and got details about the train operation and cost. The train runs at the maximum speed of 310 Kilometers/h and cover the 1310 kilometer distance between Beijing to Shanghai in less than five hours. At these meetings arranged in the train, a number of Chinese companies evinced keen interest in construction of various projects including power plants, high speed train, Basha dams, optic fiber and motorways. In Shanghai, the Prime Minister addressed Pakistan-China Energy Forum in which President and Chief Executive Officers of over 50 prominent companies participated. The Prime Minister held meeting with the Party Secretary, Shanghai Han Zheng. Later, he hosted a dinner for the visiting dignitary and members of his entourage. From Shanghai, the Prime Minister and members of his entourage travelled to Guangzhou in special plane provided as a gesture of goodwill by the Chinese government to the distinguished guest. China Southern Grid Corporation (CSG) the country’s top power manufacturing company held a detailed briefing for the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister showed keen interest in company’s business activities and power generation. It was informed that the company provides electricity to five provinces of China, besides Hong Kong. The Prime Minister discussed with company President how to reduce the line losses and power theft and sought his assistance in this regard. The Prime Minister also met with the Governor of Guangdong province, Zhu Xiaodan and discussed on bilateral relations. On the occasion, the Governor Informed the Prime Minister that a large number of Pakistani traders were doing business from this province. An official informed that 60 per cent bilateral trade between the two countries is being carried out from this province. The Governor also called on promotion of tourism between the two sides. Later, Governor Zhu hosted a dinner for the Prime Minister and members of his delegation.
