A breakthrough sleep apnea treatment developed at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Called upper airway stimulation, the new treatment is an alternative solution for patients who do not tolerate CPAP machines commonly prescribed for sleep apena. Dr Tucker Woodson was co-primary investigator on the study and was the first in the nation to perform the procedure. The procedure was profiled in the current issue of Froedtert Today.
