Prince Ea has put out another wonderful video here. It highlights something that you almost cant avoid seeing when you go out. Someone buried in their phone. Im not here to tell others how to live their lives... but it does bother me to see things like people eating together, not interacting. Instead theyre lost in this digital landscape of facebook, twitter, instagram.... or just simply texting someone else. Its not about shunning technology... but I feel like so many lose sight of the human beings right before them. Im a person who wants to have meaningful connections with people. I want to hear what people honestly think and feel... and I want them to want to know the same about me. Granted I feel like Im a terrible chit chatter and it helps a lot when the other person is able to set the topics. Perhaps Im a bit strange in regards to the average person. I didnt even have a cell phone until a few months back. Its almost never on when Im at home and when Im out at cons and such I only really glance at it to make sure I havent missed any calls or texts. When it comes to social media, Im not as active as many others are, but I still can get tired of it all from time to time. Even if it can be great for expressing yourself... its really difficult to know if your words sink in. If people can read into your sincerity, or if its all just another wall of text in their feed. If you put up a photo and it gets a thousand likes or more... and not one person comments on that photo or reaches out to you... what really just happened? Im not saying that everyone needs attention for every little thing they do... or that anyone should feel bad when all they do is throw up a like or something... but without real feedback that person will never know if they inspired someone. If they brightened a persons day, made them laugh, made them think, brought an issue to their attention, etc. I suppose what Im saying is the internet makes it so much easier to make an empty contribution. Theres no like button in reality. If you want to express something to someone you have to actively engage them. Which can be difficult for some. It definitely is for me. Still, I just feel like I wish people would look at each other more and not be distracted by a device they carry with them. Technology can be a great thing, but it should help bring people closer together... not distance them when theyre right next to each another. youtu.be/dRl8EIhrQjQ
