Prisoners 1st to donate! The $25,000 fund-raising campaign for HUMANITY FOR PRISONERS got its official start July 1 with a donation from prisoners! Doug received word Tuesday that a chapter of the National Lifers Organization at the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer has voted to contribute the first $200.00. "When you know how important money is to prisoners, how little they earn at their jobs, and how much they must spend to just survive, you realize the significance of this gift," said Doug. HFP hopes to reach the goal this month to launch the prisoner advocacy agency into the future with expanded equipment, personnel and programs. All regular supporters have been asked to make one generous additional contribution to help reach the target.
