Proactive Community Services in Hazel Crest, Ill. leads the Keep It Safe Initiative, an innovative collaboration between nonprofit private sector companies, public health agencies, academic experts, consumer advocates, and public schools. The Keep It Safe Initiative’s goal is to educate at least 2,500 at-risk youth between the ages of 8 and 14 in Chicago’s south suburbs and their parents about appropriate medication usage. The program will make use of a variety of advertisements such as coloring books and an area-wide media contest.
