Professor Dr. Major General Salman Ali did his graduation from the King Edward Medical College, Lahore in 1980. After doing his internship in Mayo Hospital, Lahore in Internal Medicine, Surgery and Ophthalmology during 1980-81, he joined the Army Medical Corps. He passed his FCPS in 1987. He did his postfellowship on job training in Paediatrics and Neonatology from the UK in 1988-89. He has supervised most of the postgraduate trainees in Paediatrics from the Armed Forces as well as a number of PGs from the civilian institutions at MH Rawalpindi. He established neonatal intensive care facilities at MH/CMH, Rawalpindi and introduction of training in neonatal Paediatrics for 2nd FCPS at Military Hospital, Rawalpindi. He has been ensuring the provision of all specialized services in his department including Paediatric Intensive Care and a pioneer in starting both upper and lower gastrointestinal Paediatric Endoscopy as well as fibreoptic bronchoscopy services in Military Hospital, Rawalpindi. He has presented research papers in national/international Paediatric conferences and has a number of publications to his credit. He has served as member of the faculty of paediatrics of the CPSP and continues to be a senior examiner for MCPS/FCPS (Paediatrics) and FCPS (neonatal paediatrics) for the last many years.
