Progress for transparency!! Thanks to thousands of EWBers, our TRACE campaign to increase transparency and accountability in mining and other resource extraction made some great progress over the past few weeks: 1) 1,284 POSTCARDS! On May 1 in Victoria, EWB and the @ONE Campaign met with the BC Minister of Mines and Energy to present 1,284 postcards from British Columbians asking their province to take the lead on making mining, oil and gas more transparent. HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED SHARE & SPREAD THIS CAMPAIGN!! 2) On April 22 in Calgary, EWB co-hosted a public event called “Enhancing Transparency in the Oil and Gas Sectors - we had a great turnout (predominantly from industry) and gathered important information about the oil & gas sectors thoughts on this issue. 3) EWB submitted comments to Natural Resources Canadas public consultation on the proposed federal-level approach to revenue transparency.
