Proverbs 30:8-9 KJV Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord ? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. .................................. The proverbs writer make an unusual request that he not be blessed with great riches nor afflicted with great poverty for both can cause men to turn away from the ways of the Lord. Both extremes tend to focus the man on himself instead of the Savior. One steals praise from God and one steals possessions from other men. One was saying he didnt need Gods help the other was saying God could not help. Now there are exceptions to this for sure. The question is are we that exception? Will we bless the Lord and others no matter what our economic status is? Let me close with the words of the apostle Paul Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Phil 4:11 Paul had learned to praise the Lord in all situations . . Have we???
