Psalm 7:17 I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness... Yadah - to throw, cast, speak out, confess, to praise; to sing; to give thanks. Essentially, it is the acknowledgement of sin, mans character, or the nature and work of God. The Hebrew word yada stresses recognition and declaration of a fact, whether it is good or bad. David made known his sin to God and did not attempt to hide it. Today, I asked God, how do I praise You according to Your righteousness? I dont know! Im still learning; so I did what I DO know, and told Him His righteousness smelled better to me than fresh lilacs, or Fall leaves soaking beside the river, or a campfire burning. I told Him, His righteousness tasted better than any food I have ever experienced. His righteousness sounds better than geese headed South, than jar kids sealing, or a kittens purr. His righteousness is more beautiful to me than ocean waves roaring onto a beach, a meadow, or fresh snowfall glistening, His righteousness feels better than a warm fire, a hot shower, ...on and on. Tears began to flow, silence grew, His Presence filled the room...I dont know HOW to do this, but I think Im on to something. My challenge to you? Try this with your own list of favorites, letting Him know youll praise Him above all your favorites, according to HIS righteousness. Take your eyes off the world and its offering of ugliness in todays news...and just simply praise Him to the best of your ability. Have I ever steered you wrong?
