Psalm 73:6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. I was praying for a few people yesterday. I asked Him why they acted like they did and He said “Pride”. We often talk about this younger generation that thinks that they are entitiled to everything. We created that in the way that we treated them and taught them. I was recently told “you dont have to be rich, just be proud of who you are and what you have”. The concept is ok but the message is missing a piece that is significant. Instead of being proud we should be blessed by who God created us to be and what He has given us. Pride is one of the most dificult areas to overcome. We live in a culture that teaches us to be prideful. We live in a world where we should never “turn the other cheek” bcasue by doing so we “show weakness”. The Word says that “the meek shall inherit the earth” (Psalm 5:37). Dont get me wrong, we should be bold and stand up for what we believe. At the same time we need to remember that no matter what we have a witness to uphold. When we handle people using our prideful attitude then people get hurt. Our sin is under the blood...but dont let someones blood be one of the sins we need covered due to a prideful attitude...
