Puerto Ricans: El Indio Taino-The Taino Indian: youtube/watch?v=Bcv7-ipKErg This is great history that many dont know about. As a Puerto Rican, I stand proud of my heritage, especially the Taino blood, which my paternal grandfather, mother and maternal grandmother, looked just like Taino indian. My paternal grandmother and aunts, grand-uncles and grand-aunts, with their very Spanish like features, made it undeniable of their Spanish heritage. We the Puerto Ricans, are this great blend of Taino Indian, Spanish, with a touch of African (depending of where in the island one is from) are a great blend of rich history; this is why you meet Puerto Ricans of many differnt looks. It is so sad to learn how the Spanish came into a peaceful island to take over what was ours, and claim it as theirs... They found it... Nope! It was already there!! Not only that, years later, United State comes in to fight some more to claim us as theirs. Ha!! We were there first!! Regardless of how much Puerto Rican history weve learned about, there is so much more to learn. Although upsetting and sad, we cannot lose ourselves by ignoring the truth. I will share a few more interesting facts and history videos so you can get to know us a bit more.
