Puzzle Pieces While scrolling through Facebook, I came across a post that got me thinking. “God can heal a broken heart. But you need to give Him all the pieces. Trust in the Lord.” (Posted by “Women of God”) Often we wonder why God doesn’t put everything together for us. Why does He wait so long before answering our prayers? I think that often we slow down the progress in our own lives because we hold a piece of our puzzle that we just don’t want to let go of…a hurt, a memory, a habit, a talent. Somehow we just don’t want to give it up to God. We want to retain control of some aspect or other – even when we know God has our back, and knows far better where that piece fits into the puzzle. God has the rest of the pieces of the puzzle ready to go. He wants to finish the puzzle, but He can’t because we are stopping Him. God doesn’t force us to give all of ourselves to Him. He gave us free will for a reason. What if our free will gets in the way of His desire to complete the good work He began in us, as Philippians 1:6…at least the timing of it? Okay, I know that God’s timing is perfect. But what if our holding back that one piece interferes with God’s first choice plan for us? Lord, please forgive me for holding the puzzle pieces that you need to finish this work in progress. Show me what I am holding back – as scary as that may seem to be at the time.
