I need to know; The dogs breed It’s age When is it barking? What is it barking at? Is this when you’re home or when you’re out etc Holly James Breed Maltese silky terrier age 10 yrs , she was attacked as a puppy and now she just barks at everything. Paw Man Being attacked as a puppy is not to blame for this behavior. How do you currently discipline this dog? Holly James Raise our voices and change my tone. Paw Man That is not actually discipline at all... from the dog’s perspective. Essentially your dog has never been disciplined..... you’re just talking to it, interrupting the behavior, and projecting anger at the dog...... but nothing that the dog perceives as discipline. *You can stop the barking in just a few minutes if you just pair the barking with what the dog perceives as an aversive. (not what YOU think is an aversive) Holly James I was spraying her and that seemed to stop her for a bit. Paw Man Spraying, chastising and any other non-physical interventions are just behavioral interrupters which stop the behavior happening now only because they interrupt it and do not stop the behavior happening again and again.
