QUEENS, friends, Ive read a few posts now regarding the recent bullying and negative behaviour within Brisbanes drag and gay community... I personally have been on both sides a few times in my past. How? MY bullys left me so isolated and full of anger that I became the thing I despised. This is going back quite a few years and Im happy to say Ive grown up some since then. So, while I understand this is part of growing up, it still saddens me to see this happening, especially since only weeks ago we lost an amazing queen, one that was striving to better our community through her work on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Bullying can cause depression, anxiety, lead to self harm and even suicide. We may not all get along, or understand each others choices, but consider this... If you are a Brisbane drag queen, established or baby, if u r a regular patron at any of Brisbanes great gay establishments and you continue to bully someone, no matter your reasons or justification, you are guilty of causing harm to another human being AND you are disrespecting the memory of one of our most loved and community minded entertainers. Stop judging others, if you dont like them just leave them be. Focus on your own choices, on your own self improvement.. A true queen rules with compassion, humour, imagination and love. Its time to look in the mirror girls...
