****QUESTION**** Does anyone have a suggestion for Angela Haldron? She wrote, " I have a rescue German Shepherd Dog. He is 18 months old now and we got him at 14 weeks. We bought him from a "friend of a friend" who bought the puppy as a Christmas present for his girlfriend - they split up soon after and she kept the dog though admitted she did not want it and could not afford it. Before we got the dog he had been severely malnourished and spent most of his time locked in a cage He had also been physically abused. My question is how long will he remember? He is normally a happy loving, tail wagging dog but he hates to be touched. He will now accept being stroked so long as its quick! A few days ago I came home unexpectedly and not in my own car and he barked ferociously but did not run to the door to greet me as normal. I found him in the living room crouched behind the settee with a puddle around him. If I need to put my hands on him, to brush him, to check his ears, to pluck off a grass seed he ducks and wets the floor. I have never raised my hand to this (or any) dog and I cannot understand why he still acts this way after so long with me. Will he ever trust me? Any tips or tricks to help me build a stronger bond with him?"
