Question - can RCIPS confiscate a minors property (in this case an iPhone), using a 3rd party (say a teacher), under false pretenses (teacher asked for the phone but didnt explain that it would be given to the police), without valid reasoning and without contacting the parents...??? I am ALL about supporting an investigation into a VERY serious matter...but if MY child is not even REMOTELY involved in this heinous crime, then I have a HUGE problem with the way in which he and we (the parents) have been treated in terms of no communication, withholding property without explanation and complete and total lack of respect in returning my phone calls and plea for dialogue. RCIPS does itself NO favours with the bullish way they handle cases. Particularly when someone is WILLING to be of assistance and they wont even return a call!!! Its been 6 days...seeking advice on our rights...dont make this get publicly ugly Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS)... Someone needs to call me. Pronto.
