Question: I have opted out of Cal MediConnect and chosen to keep - TopicsExpress

Question: I have opted out of Cal MediConnect and chosen to keep my Medicare benefits as they are so I may keep my current doctors. In order to receive the 20% Medi-Cal co-payment, must my doctors become part of the Medi-Cal only plan that I must enroll in to receive my Medi-Cal benefits? Answer: No. If you choose to keep your Medicare as it is, your doctors will receive the 20% Medi-Cal co-payment from the Medi-Cal only plan as they now do from the State. They do not join or become a part of the Medi-Cal only plan. Additionally, if you have opted out of coordinated care and keep your Medicare fee-for-service, the Medi-Cal only plan cannot assign a doctor to except under very limited circumstances of need. You keep your doctors and they remain independent of any plan . But beware: Doctors and Office Staff are not understanding this and they may tell you otherwise.
