Elvis Aaron Presley was born in 1935. In 1977, Elvis Presley died of heart failure. Elvis’s girlfriend Ginger Alden found him lying on the floor in his bathroom. He had been seated on the toilet reading The Scientific Search For Jesus. In the last few months of his life Elvis he become hugely overweight, his mind dulled by the pharmacopoeia he daily ingested. His last tour was cancelled after he failed to appear at Baton Rouge and his previous shows were short and he found it hard to complete the arranged setlist! His final concert was held in Indianapolis at Market Square Arena, on June 26. The last song he released was Way Down it was recorded at his home studio in Graceland in late October, 1976.. It was January 1956 when he recorded the iconic debut LP “Elvis Presley”. The album spent ten weeks at number 1 and was the first rock and roll album ever to make it to the top of the charts!!! It was also the first million-selling album of the genre. “I Forgot to Remember to Forget”, backed with “Mystery Train” was the first charted single of 154 listings. This remains the record for the most entries on the US charts. Elvis starred in 31 films from 1956 – ’69 and he also became the first rock n roll artist to be honoured by the US Postal Service with a stamp. THE KING LIVES!!!
