Quran Reflection #28: There is Wisdom in Your Wounds Quran Surah 18, Verse 78: قَالَ هَٰذَا فِرَاقُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنِكَ سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِتَأْوِيلِ مَا لَمْ تَسْتَطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًا Translation: He said: This shall be separation between me and you; now I will inform you of the significance of that with which you could not have patience. Notes: Musa (p) watched in horror as the wise man Khidr did what seemed like bad things to good people, from damaging property to murdering a child. But then Khidr goes on to explain the wisdom and mercy of each action, revealing the purpose of the pain. When in your life you experience challenges that seem unfair--bad things happening to good people--remember Khidr. Remember that we only see a sliver of reality, and the One who sees all has decreed Loving Compassion on Himself. Your challenge is averting greater suffering. Your struggle is not in vein. Look for the tenderness in the turmoil, the wisdom in the wilderness, the compassion in the cut.
