REBOUND (2) The Lord has never validated irresponsibility and never will. Nature itself abhors it. Life detests it. Nobody makes a rebound or breakthrough into anything significant by abandoning every responsibility to God or to other people. The easiest way to forfeit an inheritance or lose a privilege or truncate a glorious destiny is by not taking responsibility. Aside the lessons learnt yesterday, the second verse of our text (2Kings 4) states: “So Elisha said to her…what do you have…? And she said…nothing…but a jar of oil.” Lesson # (4) Until you know what you have, you can’t have what you need. God will always start with what you have, what you can do, or what you can afford. And the responsibility for that is entirely yours. What you have may seem insignificant but can earn you magnificence. You may despise what you’ve got, but remember, anything you despise will not fetch you respect nor any respite. Take responsibility of discovering what you have. Don’t join the wagon of “I have nothing.” God does not create anyone who has got nothing. We may not have it equally, depending on our different and several abilities. God does not bless nothing either. So, what do you have? # (5) Passing humility test is a must, if you are going to cover a worthwhile distance! The woman was instructed: “…Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbor…do not gather a few.” (V.3). Nobody likes to be seen as being weak and dependent. Everyone does everything to make it up, even when the situation is so bad. But she was asked to go and borrow from her neighbors, who probably knew or her family’s debt profile. That instruction was humbling, but until you pass it, the Lord might not be able to help any further; therefore the best bet remains that you come down from your high horse. # (6) Maximize your potential. Make the most of what you’ve got. Exact more efforts. “Do not gather a few.” You can’t always be doing a few and still expect a new. No one ever deserves more for doing less. Anything you have to do, do it more. Believe more, seek more, pray more, give more, read more, learn more, commit more, help more, be diligent more. It’s the volume by which you measure that shall be measure back to you. The same instruction given to her is relevant to you and me today: “Do not gather a few.” Indolence is one sure way of inducted into being indigent. Redundancy doesn’t attract reward. If you keep it fallow, you will get it hollow. If you are going to change what you get, you must change what you give. (To be continued) Prayer: Precious Father, I thank You for sending me here fully loaded for my destiny fulfillment. I thank You because You’ve given me all it takes to have all I need. I receive Your grace to pass every humility test that comes my way, and I receive enablement to do more of everything You have committed to my hands, in Jesus name. Amen.
