REF: DP 19/4 VI (34) Date : 04/17/2014 Public Service Management Directive No.11 of 2014 OVERTIME ALLOWANCE ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE BOTSWANA POLICE, BOTSWANA DEFENCE FORCE AND BOTSWANA PRISON SERVICE TO: All Permanent Secretaries Attorney General Commander, Botswana Defence Force Director General, National Strategy Office Director General, Directorate of Intelligence and Security Director General, Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime Commissioner of Police Clerk of the National Assembly Coordinator, National Aids Coordinating Agency Secretary, Independent Electoral Commission Registrar and Master of the High Court Registrar of the Industrial Court Auditor General Accountant General Ombudsman District Commissioner/ Council Secretaries Land Board Secretaries Addressees are informed that Government has decided to revise overtime allowance for Botswana Police, Botswana Defence Force, Botswana Prisons Service and Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) as follows; Botswana Police Police overtime allowance is increased from 15% to 20% of the basic salary for the ranks of Constable to Senior Superintendent (D2); Ranks above Senior Superintendent in the Botswana Police Service will be paid overtime allowance calculated in prorated percentage of the Senior Superintendent (D2) top notch; Assistant Commissioner and Senior Assistant Commissioner at 75%; Deputy Commissioner 50% and Commissioner of Police 25%; Prisons Service Prisons overtime allowance is increased from 15% to 20% of the basic salary for the ranks or Warder to Senior Superintendent (D4); Ranks above Senior Superintendent in the Botswana Prisons Service will be paid overtime allowance calculated in prorated percentage of the Senior Superintendent (D4) top notch; Assistant Commissioner and Senior Assistant Commissioner at 75%; Deputy Commissioner 50% and Commissioner of Police 25%; Botswana Defence Force Overtime allowance is introduced in the Botswana Defence Force at the rate of 20% of the basic salary for the ranks of Private to Lieutenant Colonel (D1). This would be spread over a period of two years; i.e 10% in 2014/2015 and 10% in 2015/2016; Ranks above Lieutenant Colonel will be paid allowance calculated in prorated percentage of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (D1) top notch; Colonel at 75%; Brigadier 50%; Major General and Lieutenant General (Commander) 25%: Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) Overtime payable to DIS officers is adjusted from 15% to 20%; The Government has also approved the adjustment of the salary scale for Special Constable from the current A3 to A1 and the duration of their contracts from the current renewable six (6) months to renewable twenty-four (24) months.
