What you need to compete: -50% of your revenue needs to come from working in a restaurant ISG diploma of the equivalent (sommelier diploma focused on service) -Living in Canada for the last 2 years -Canadian citizen -A CAPS member (easy - register on our website!) What the competition will look like: -Written exam in the morning with blind tasting -The top 3 candidates from the morning exam will compete in the afternoon (service exam) in front of the public -The winners will be announced at a casual party gathering the same night. The winning sommelier will become the Sommelier of the Year and will be announced at the Vancouver International Wine Festival!! When is the competition? -November 3rd - plan to have the entire day of if you are competing How to register? -Please email Michelle Bouffard at [email protected] if you wish to compete. The registration deadline is October 1st. Cost of registration - FREE Mentorship Mentorship is optional. A group of us will put together a schedule of training session to help you compete. They will cover theory, service and tasting. The first training session will take place next week. You will be provided with the schedule once you register. Word of the wise One never feels ready to compete no matter how much you prepare. Don’t be afraid and register. The worst it can happen is that you can win!!!
