RIL Digest To know God deeply Weve assembled spiritual gear in our minds, in the context that there certain ways God takes us into spiritual depth. Weve viewed this according to how much we are suited up in our gear. Like praying in terms of asking without listening to Him, fasting to make Him move, attending all different fellowships to show faithfulness without any impartation in our spirits or impact, or the zeal we show without knowledge and all the other different rituals weve termed spiritual. God wants to reveal himself to you more than you can ever imagine or think. 1 Samuel 3:7 says Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him. Yet in 1 Sam 3:19 says, Samuel grew, and The Lord was with him and did let none of his words fall to the ground. The distinction here is that God had not revealed himself to him, though Samuel grew in his learning about God.(1 Sam 2:21, 26) Thats why when The Lord calls him, he couldnt discern the voice of The Lord until Eli tells him. Most of us we are in a place of learning about God that even when He calls out to us we cant hear Him. There is a difference between learning or knowing about God and the actual knowing God. Samuel got know God not about Him as illustrated in 1 Sam 3:21 where God reveals himself to Samuel and this was by the word of The Lord. Therefore it doesnt matter what gear you are using, can we become more aware of a God that wants to reveal himself to us rather than just his ways. Spiritual depth as weve termed it; is having an awareness to God revealing His finished work in you not around you. Praise the Lord! Question for tomorrows digest? He calls us his sheep, therefore we ought to hear Him, but how comes we rarely do hear Him?
