RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND REPLY RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT ON THE ALLEGED SHOOTING OF SEN. MAGNUS ABE The attention of Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to the statements credited to Chief Tony Okocha, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Rivers State, to the effect that the officers who allegedly shot Senator Magnus Abe were Arrested and it is on this premise that it becomes pertinent to clarify the air so as to put a stop to misleading stories being fed to the members of the public. For avoidance of doubt, it is necessary to bring to the public the fact that actually, two security personnel were arrested by the the police on the day of the incident. At the same time, it is also important to say that those arrested were a Corporal of the Nigeria a Police and a personnel of the Department of State Security Service both Attached to the Chief of Staff who, rather than sticking to their assigned roles, went out of their ways to carry out the unprofessional job of spying for the Chief of Staff. These men, as at the time of their arrest, concealed a service pistol and walkie-talkie radio respectively and tried to infiltrate into the midst of officers and men officially assigned to the venue of the failed rally. Again, the Chief of Staff inferred that Senator Magnus Abe was flown abroad in an Air Ambulance. This is another hulla-balloo story because the Senator travelled by Air France, and was indeed, the number one the manifest. Members of the press can investigate this independently and see between the angle of the Rivers State Government and Rivers State Police Command who has, all along been trying to full the public. On the approval for the rally by the Commissioner of Police, mad quoted by the Chief of Staff, it is also necessary that tenders it to the press so that public will be properly informed. Finally, it is pertinent to advise that the Chief of Staff and some Local Government Chairmen who have bee holding clandestine meetings on how to disrupt the peace of the State further by employing the service of unemployed and disgruntled youths to cause mayhem capable of destabilizing the polity and socio-economic activities of not only the State but Federal Republic of Nigeria as well. It is hereby warned that anyone who allows himself to be hired and used be on notice that the Command will not fold her hands and watch them take the laws into their hands as full wrath of the will not hesitate to befall on them.
