ROAD TRIP OF A LIFETIME PART TWO (Continuation of part one) Ginger and Joni drove from Texas to my place in Colorado where this journey began. Part one has already been done and this picks up where it left off… the breathtaking Pacific coast on Highway 1. It was a VERY long winding road but the beauty can’t be beat – Carmel By the Sea, Big Sur, Monterrey Bay (where we went whale watching). My cousins surprised me on Hwy 1 in Big Sur with a gigantic California garlic! We went on to some vineyards, Samoa, Carpinteria, Ventura Beach, 17 mile road to Pebble Beach then San Simeon to watch the famous elephant seals and tour the more famous Hearst Castle. We went on to Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch and on to Redondo Beach and the beaches that surround it. We went on to San Francisco where we took a boat tour, ate at my favorite Fisherman’s grotto, biked the golden gate bridge, celebrated at Top of the Mark, toured Chinatown, ate at Mel’s Diner and did all the San Francisco tourist stuff. Then we were back on the road to Hollywood where we ate at Cabo Wabo, toured all the tourist stuff there and appeared on Let’s Make a Deal. We had tickets to Price is Right but California was hit with a major heatwave so we chose not to wait outside in 109 degrees for five hours so we visited Gingers family in riverside. We went to Catalina Island and stayed in San Pedro for a couple of days before taking Route 66 through Barstow, California stopping in Needles, California which is known for all the murals throughout town. We crossed the Mojave desert, into Lake Havisu where we went to London Bridge and visited the lake. Then we headed to Bearizona and the incredible Grand Canyon. We could not get a tour for Antelope Island in Page, Arizona so we headed to Four Corners on Route 66. We made it back to Colorado with the Aspens changing color and the beauty of the sunsets are just incredible. We climbed Zapata Falls and visited the sand dunes before making it back to my mountain. Part two of this incredible road trip takes you from the beaches in California to Hollywood/Riverside. The rest of the trip will be in 20 minute videos as well and if you think everything passes too fast and you want to see the actual pictures, I will post them as Facebook allows but culling through 2,743 pictures to find 800 to publish was grueling as every stop, every picture was a memory… the randomness we saw while on the road is in Part Three but made the trip even more interesting! This trip has been planned for a long time and it was far more than we ever thought it would be! We had such fun and saw soooo much! We are truly grateful to have had this opportunity to explore God’s greatest gifts in this fine country of ours! It was indeed the ROAD TRIP OF A LIFETIME and encourage all of you to take time out to REALLY live and see some of the wonders of our world… it is mind blowing to experience all this in person!
