Races cancelled for Sat & Sun seriously. What amazes me is that for the last 2 yes I said 2 weeks. Myself and at least 5 other horseman have watched at times 4 of our wonderful maintenance staff cleaning shavings out of stalls in a barn that has not been occupied in at least a month by Thoroughbred horses and will not be occupied for months to come. I say cleaning very loosely since all that has been accomplished in two weeks is the shavings being pulled into the isle way. Yesterday, one maintenance worker was standing in the barn bouncing a ball off of the stall walls while the other two just stood by watching. Today they were playing volleyball over the pile of shavings in the barn. Yes, I did say playing volleyball. REALLY, WHO OVERSEES THESE PEOPLE. If you look around the barn areas, we have to deal with a half inch of ice on the ground. Our grooms and horses have to walk and travel to get from point A to point B on the grounds slipping and sliding over ice and these people stand around bouncing balls and playing volleyball. Are you kidding. We dont race... Risk ourselves and horses on ice... Cant make any money and risk losing owners all while the maintenance crew plays ball. Where do I sign up. I may want a new job..
