Rachel Marie (Collin) Murawski, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, April 26 with dignity and grace surrounded lovingly by her family. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard Murawski, of Terryville; her daughter Marybeth Morneault and her husband Shawn of Torrington, and her daughter Karen Murawski of West Hartford. She was the loving meme to her grandson Shawn Michael Morneault. She was born in Frenchville, Maine, moving to New Britain and graduating from Pulaski High School in 1966. She attended St Mary’s School of Nursing where she received her RN in 1969. She was an extraordinary woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met including the patients and families she cared for during her 45 years as a professional and compassionate nurse — receiving the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing in 2010. She raised her family in Harwinton where she enjoyed golfing, reading, and especially the bringing together of family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Rita Fletcher of Southington; brother, Daniel Collin and wife, MaryAnn, of New Britain; sister, Charlene France and her husband, Stuart, of Eastham, Mass.; sister, Debra Nelson and her husband, Robert, of Mashpee, Mass.; and brother, James Collin and his wife, Kristine, of New Britain; her sister-in-law, Carol Pyrzenski and husband, Phil, of Harwinton; and her brother-in-law Tom and his wife, Cathy, of Tega Cay, S.C.; and several nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014, 10:30 a.m. from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville to St. Stanislaus Church, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the following organizations – Smilow Cancer Hospital, Cherrybrook Healthcare Center, or Boston Healthcare for the Homeless.
