Raga Sewing Project Update Well the ladies have been busy and the management committee has taken on board some of our suggestions during our last visit and have been more active. They have had orders for Year 10 graduation outfits as well as teacher uniforms for Walter Lini. One of these orders was from another island, so word is spreading. It is good to see that as the business progresses they are identifying their needs, such as realising that they needed a mirror for people to look at when they try on the clothes, the fact that customers coming to the workplace interrupts the sewing so they need a shop front separate from the sewing room. They have currently utilised the school canteen as a shop while school is on holidays. A managers position has now been advertised as well. We plan a trip in March 2015 and will be working on the next stages with them such as obtaining power either by solar or a generator, looking at the financial side to see if it is becoming sustainable and finding a suitable shopfront area. It is hard to believe that this has all happened in less than a year as the business was officially opened on 28th April 2014. This is due to the enthusiasm and commitment of the community. It is a pleasure working with them.
