Rain kept me away from the paw paw patch today, but I drove out to - TopicsExpress

Rain kept me away from the paw paw patch today, but I drove out to the Elks Camp that borders the Cowpasture River. The mist cloaked much of the valley along Route 42, known as the Cowpasture River Highway. A couple of my friends were getting married there today, and I drove two pizzas out to the camp, complimentary of the Buckhorne. A steady rain did not prevent a large gathering for the wedding, and by the time I drove back the rain had lightened up. I looked for paw paw trees as I drove, but I did not spot any along the way. By October, the paw paw season will be over. I have 55 paw paws in a deep freezer as I write this, and I would like to freeze at least 100 for winter treats. I am surprised at how many people I encounter do not know what paw paws are, have never tasted them, and are reluctant to taste one. Their loss!
