Ramp Closure from NB Cumberland Avenue (IL 171) to WB I-90 Closed June 24 The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that the ramp from northbound Cumberland Avenue (IL 171) to westbound I-90 will close, beginning Tuesday, June 24, 2014. The Following detours will be posted: • I-90 WB: Cumberland north to Higgins Road (IL 72), west on Higgins to I-90W entrance ramp to Devon Avenue. • I-190 WB: Cumberland north to Higgins Road (IL 72), west to Des Plaines River Road, south to I-190W ramp • I-294 NB and SB (Tri-State Tollway), Cumberland north to Higgins Road (IL 72), east on Higgins Road to Oriole Avenue, south on Oriole Avenue to Higgins Road, east on Higgins Road to Harlem Avenue, north on Harlem Avenue, north on Harlem Avenue to Bryn Mawr Avenue, west on Bryn Mawr Avenue to I-90W ramp. Follow interstate signs to I-294 NB and SB. On April 29, 2014, the ramp from NB Cumberland to WB I-90 was closed as part of the ongoing construction to replace the bridge carrying Cumberland Avenue over I-90. This ramp is anticipated to be opened on July 25, 2014. Motorists can expect delays during times when the lane closures are in effect and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signing in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
