Ran into a former student of mine tonight. Last time I saw him he was 11-maybe 12. I could still see his 6th grade smiling-sweet grin after all these years. He is a local dentist now. Gee. He made it. We had grades then. Accountability. I knew both his parents. We did Art. Field trips. DARE. Launched rockets. Had Music and Media and Jr. Great Books. We ability grouped and integrated and Wrote and read about everything. I knew my kids-each and everyone. All that we did-I still had time for them. What has happened to education?!?!?! I so miss those days.....
