Random Hawaii Observation: Ive spent a significant fraction of my vacation on the North Shore of Oahu stuck behind brand new shiny red Ford Mustang convertibles. If youre an American and you rent a car on Hawaii, youll likely end up with a Japanese import - which you will drive like a maniac, swearing and swerving through the hellish Honolulu traffic, tiny motor screaming like a banshee, with your windshield wipers a-flappin because you cant figure out the alien controls in order to turn them off. If youre Japanese, however, youll likely end up with a powerful American made muscle car, a growling 8-cylinder fuel-injected rocket beast capable of breaking the sound barrier in first gear ... which you will drive at 25 MPH with the top up and the heat on because you cant figure out the alien controls, lost and obvious to the line of traffic stretching for miles behind you.
