Ravinder Singh > Sikhs of Jammu & Kashmir Draft version of objectives of Gurudwara Sudhaar leher. The state of Gurdwara Management committees is cause of worry for the Panth. All the panth dardis are concerned about it. Sangat at large wishes to bring change in the system, but they don’t have a set of achievable objectives. If we can give sangat clear points, I feel change is possible. Deciphering information has never been so easy as it is today. With technology we can easily reach to the masses. Daas has penned down few points according to nij Mat. I request all of you to discuss and debate each of the points and finalize a model. 1) Members and office bearers of Gurdwara Prabhandak committee shall not be doing any of the four Kurahats. He/She shall partake amrit within six months of assuming office. In case of failure to do so He/She shall seize to be Part of Management committee . 2) An individual shall not hold any office in the management committee for more than two terms. I.e. A member shall not be selected or elected for the Management committee for more than ten years. Two terms of five years or whatever be the duration of term. 3) Granthis and Ragis shall adhere to the Principles of Guru Granth Sahib jee and there shall be full control of the Ragis and Granthis on managing the religious duties. Management committee shall have no say until there is breach of code of conduct as per Guru Granth Sahib jee. (Move is to make Granthis do Parchar without worrying about the likes and dislikes of Management committee) 4) Only certified Ragis and Granthis shall be employed in Gurdwara Sahibs. 5) Minimum Salary of the Granthis and Ragis shall be at Par with Govt Employees. Granthis and Ragis shall be graded according to the competency and shall be paid accordingly. Granthis shall have Health insurance and pension benefits. 6) Decent Living conditions shall be provided to Ragis and Granthis at least one bedroom apartments shall be made available to Granthis and Ragis. 7) 10 % of the Gurdwara Budget shall be earmarked for Parchar of Gurmat among Youngsters of the Locality, This shall not include salary and Payments made to Granthis and Ragis for Kirtan Programs and Gurpurabs. 10 % of the Gurdwara Budget shall be earmarked for Health care of the needy. 9) 10% of the Gurdwara Budget shall be reserved for education of the needy Sikhs of the locality and if money is left unspent shall be contributed to educating marginalized sikh communities. 10) Langar In Gurdwaras shall be simple and Hygienic. Sangat shall be encouraged to divert the funds meant for langars to dharm Parchar, Education, feeding the needy and destitute. 11) Minimum 30% members of Gurdwara Management committee shall be Bibis. It shall be ensured that young Men and women get chance to serve the sangat as members of management committee.
