Re: MORALITY AND CONSCIENCE I cannot but agree totally and absolutely with Mr Adejumo. It makes me very sad and almost depressed to hear that Chief Alao-Akala is harbouring a return to Government house. When I heard that, I was shocked. And I am persuaded that his ambition must have been triggered by the clandestine robbery in Ekiti State. If Mr Fayose, with his track record can return to power, why couldnt I? He asked himself. It says a lot about the common intelligence and awareness of our people that we cannot basically tell these type of people where to go. Chief Akalas administration in Oyo State, in my opinion, as an ordinary citizen, unclouded and undiluted by political affiliations, was an excellent example of how a government should not be run. Wasteful, unresponsive, aggressive, murderous, corrupt, arrogant, inept, lacking ambition, vision and focus! Absolutely terrible aberration. I had the misfortune of having left the UK after about 18 years and arrived to live in Ibadan in 2008, right in the middle of his terrible reign. That a person could completely ignore the aspirations and welfare of the people like he did as Governor was beyond me. The roads were horrible, pot-holes everywhere, like craters. NURTW fighting and killing themselves and innocent bystanders on a daily basis, Armed-Robbery went unchecked for ages, until people got tired of bank robberies and he went and got 3 police armoured personnel-carriers. The list is endless. Now, peace is reigning, infrastructures are being developed. Yes, the present government is not perfect, but any sane person will prefer the present one to the gangsterism and profligacy of the Akala era. May we never ever see Chief Akala back again! We would have marched straight back into retrogression, with our eyes open! Have a nice weekend. Regards A Fashanu
