A LETTER IN DEFENCE OF JUSTICE Dear Justice Katju, Fri Apr 4, 2014 280 We have received a copy of a letter sent to you by the Network of Women in Media, and are both surprised and shocked by the accusations it has hurled at The Citizen (thecitizen.in) and by implication at journalists and commentators who have not joined in the blanket condemnation of Tarun Tejpal. The writers have accused the two media outlets of being ‘clearly biased in favour of the accused’ and of making ‘a deliberate attempt to adversely influence public opinion against the complainant’. This is the exact opposite of the truth. It is they who have, even in their letter to you, used an overt threat of legal action to silence anyone who has the temerity to say that there could be two sides to the case, and to highlight anomalies in the prosecution’s case in support of their contention.
