Reader Question: We are planning on homeschooling our children - TopicsExpress

Reader Question: We are planning on homeschooling our children in the fall. They will be in kindergarten and the 1st grade. My husband and I have been looking into different history programs and we wanted other experienced homeschoolers opinions. We have looked into Tapestry of Grace, Mystery of History, and The Story of the World (SOTW). I know the Story of the World is told from a non-Biblical perspective though, especially the first volume on Ancient Civilizations. For anyone that has used SOTW, did you skip the first volume and use a more Biblical curriculum, then use the other volumes of SOTW? Did you use SOTW volume 1 but supplement with another more Biblically based curriculum? Also, which one is the easiest to use when dealing with multiple grade levels? We like Tapestry of Grace and Mystery of History, but my favorite is Story of the World. However, presenting a Biblical perspective/worldview is important to us as we educate our children and we want to be as sensitive to that as possible without withholding important historical information from our children. I hope this makes sense. Any advice from experienced mamas would be extremely helpful! Thank you! ~ Anonymous
