Reading, "The Foxes Book of Martyrs." Happiness is not defined by our blessings or suffering, it is not something you can make, True Happiness comes from knowing Jesus Christ and that He Will be with us always. As I Continue to read this book I am continually humbled by the stories of Christians who were persecuted and put to death just for their faith. However, what humbles me the most is how much joy they had. Even as most of them Were burned alive at the stake for standing up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ what is most compelling is that while they were burned instead of screaming in pain they recited Psalms and sang praises to God Until their last breath. What an amazing Testament to what Faith can do, and how powerful our God Is. Even though they were brutally punished and executed they did not loose faith, if anything their faith grew stronger as their bonds were wretched tighter. Upon being Sentenced to death for denouncing the catholic church and preaching Protestantism a little known Protestant Preacher named Scoblant famously requested the Jailer not to permit any friar to come near him; saying: "They can do me no good, but may greatly disturb me. I hope my salvation is already sealed in heaven, and that the blood of Christ, in which I firmly put my trust, hath washed me from my iniquities. I am not going to throw off this mantle of clay, to be clad in robes of eternal glory by whose celestial brightness I shall be freed from all error. I hope I may be the last martyr to papal tyranny, and the blood already spilt found sufficient to quench the thirst of popish cruelty; that the Church of Christ may have rest here, as his servents will hereafter. On the day of execution, he took a pathetic leave of his fellow prisoners. At the stake he fervently said the Lords Prayer, and sung the fortieth Psalm as he was burned alive, then commended his soul to God." .....Wow What a testimony to Gods Grace that even while he was being burned alive, even in the most pain, God gave him peace, and God gave him joy. God did not let him suffer but rather filled him with so much joy it drowned out the pain. Sometimes we grumble over the most minute of uncomfortably or stress in our lives, but do we Share Gods word as we should and do we practice what we preach. Most certainly we can learn a lot from such great men of faith who remained steadfast in Christ even if it lead to their death. Reading these stories of all of the people who were persecuted for Christ, has made me feel humbled. A little less worry and a lot more faith. Jesus will be with you always he will never leave you nor forsake you, he is your comforter your guide, your provider and he is your deliverer . Knowing him will make you happy, what a joy so Divine. Please Share your Love for Jesus with others, because he was not ashamed to show his Love for you. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whosoever would believe on him would not perish but have Everlasting Life" John 3:16
