Real Northern California and everyone else I have some great news for MMA, Kick boxing and muay thia fighters about coming SYWF events. You may or not be aware that Don Arnott in the 1980’s trained 4 Professional World Kickboxing Association (WKA) Champions and 8 Amateur World Champions and promoted many WKA World title fights. I was the WKA promoter of the year in 1984. I have promoted over 100 live events including World Class Live PPV Boxing and Kickboxing. There are a lot of MMA promotions going on in California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington. Many of these promotions are independent of any real organization or sanctioning, they have their own titles and their own belts. These titles have no real rankings and there seems to be no legitimacy to these titles for the fighter. I have been in contact with Steve Fossum, President of the International Sports Combat Federation (ISCF) and the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF). The ISCF is the first and the largest sanctioning body for both Amateur and Pro MMA in the World. The IKF is one of the top sanctioning bodies for Kickboxing and Muay Thai in the World. They both have real rankings for all the fighters that are State, Regional, National, Continental and World for both Amateur and Pro. These are legitimate rankings and their titles are internationally recognized. I am working with Steve Fossum to have ISCF and IKF sanctioning and title fights on future SYWF events. All MMA fighters will receive ISCF rankings. All Kickboxers will receive IKF rankings. When a fighter makes it into their top 10 in the state then they can challenge the State Champion for his/her title, a State Champion can challenge a Regional Champ and after a Regional Champ makes it into the top 10 in the Nation he/she can fight for the US title. National Champions can fight for Continental titles, (North American) and Worlds Titles. In the 1980’s I did a similar thing with my kickboxing fighters. We went from Area, Regional, National and World titles, first Amateur then Pro. It took 3 years for them to get a Professional World Title. I promoted most of their fights but we also got them fights in Japan and other countries. I would like to do a similar thing for fighters living in Northern California and Oregon. Promote events at Cher-Ae Heights Casino, and also planning on other venues so that the local MMA, Kickboxing and Muay Thai clubs can have their fighters build their records, get real rankings and fight for legitimate recognized titles all the way to World Champions. We will be following all the requirements from the ISCF and IKF for fighter registrations, medicals, officials training and qualifications, etc. All ISCF for MMA bouts will be under the International Rules (same as the Unified MMA Rules) and the IKF bouts will have a choice among the main 3 rule styles which are American Full contact (Above the Waist), International (Allowing Leg Kicks) and the various levels of Muay Thai which can allow knees and elbows as well. When you register, make sure you include all your past fights on all documents. Including MMA, Kickboxing, Boxing, Toughman, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. I was told they will look at your past record and rank you accordingly, the higher your ranking the better chance we have to move you up for a title fight. The registration fee for a competitor is $25 which is a one time only fee and good for life. All competitors that join ISCF MMA will have their fights recorded on their ranking system and included in the Official MMA database approved by the Association of Boxing Commissions at mixedmartialarts. We want to match as many local MMA, Kickboxing and Muay Thai fighters as possible on our SYWF events. We will match fighters according to their experience and skill levels. First time fighters will be matched against first time fighters. Fighters with experience will be matched with those of similar experience. There is some great talent that has been seen on the SYWF events, my goal is to give these potentially great fighters a venue to develop, get a legitimate ranking, promote a State and eventually a World Title fight for them. This would be a legitimate “QUEST for the TITLE”. This will bring MMA to a whole new level in this area and be very beneficial to both the gyms and the fighters. We will NOT be having Toughman MMA on these events. We will still have a portion of the event for Toughman Boxing for those that do not want to fight Amateur MMA, Kickboxing or Muay Thai or work toward title fights. The Toughman Boxing part of the event will be the same as before. Only the MMA, Kickboxing and Muay Thai will be sanctioned by the ISCF and or IKF.
