Reality Check!!! NURSES ARE SO NEGLECTED by Government! By Carl E. Balita How much did you spend to finish 4 years of BSN in this country? Please estimate and POST so they will appreciate our parents investment in what turns out to be a neglected profession/ sector. Teachers are getting more than P20,000 per month in government schools, while many nurses need to PAY to train or to work WITHOUT pay as volunteers. Yes! Pay teachers as much because education is important! But health is VITAL! Health is first level in Maslow. Education is in second or even higher level. Illiteracy is NOT fatal, illnesses are. Is health less important and is not a priority? Why is this government concerned about teacher-pupils ratio? Is nurse-patient ratio not a problem? It is a good thing the teachers get what they rightfully deserve. They actually deserve more. Good thing we value education more and more. But please see health as a priority, and nurses as important element of this dying system. TESDA pushes for welders and vulcanizers to be trained for work demands abroad, trains them free and links them to industries so they can be more competitive. Who is pushing for nurses to find experience for the global demands? Do we want Philippines as a country exporting skilled labor rather than professionals? POOR nurses..! does this government hear us? NURSES UNITE!!!! Let our voices be heard as ONE....
