Realization: In prisons each inmate is required to have healthy food, clothing, shelter, a place to sleep, and effective health-care. If they DONT have these things we see it as cruel and inhumane. This is what we give to people convicted of crimes. This includes murderers, rapists, and people who have committed grand theft. So on some level, we seem to believe that no matter what somebody has done, they are worthy of certain basic life needs. There are even programs in place so that many of them are working on getting a degree before theyre released. But, if somebody is mooching off the system and lazy or could do better or just cant afford their needs, or needs more health care than they can afford in order to thrive, we cut funding because theyre not worthy.
