Really disappointed in Bob Geldof and the lyrics of the Band Aid - TopicsExpress

Really disappointed in Bob Geldof and the lyrics of the Band Aid single this year. Could you have painted a more dismal, misery-infused, and frankly damaging portrait of Africa?? Yes, there are challenges, but the people of that land are so resilient and so vibrant. When the biggest thing Africa needs is to have the world acknowledge and experience its magic, this song is so damn damaging. We need people to come to Africa, invest their tourism and their interests there to help the nations grow and address their challenges in their own way. All Band Aid is going to achieve this year is a few short-term useful donations and driving the long-term benefits of international tourists away from Africa right when she needs them the most. Maybe amazing African artists like Zolani Mahola, Fuse ODG, Kantu, the Moipe Quartet, Alisha Popat, and Teto Tutuma should be driving Band Aid this year. Have to give amazing credit to Alisha Popat and Zolani Mahola for this incredible collaborative achievement inspired by Leonard Cohens Hallelujah. This is a true song of hope that really speaks to the New Africa, the land that she is becoming after all of her trials and troubles. Gone are the days when Africa is portrayed as a place of suffering and hopelessness...there is such wealth of culture, people, wildlife, nature, and music there...I have seen it. Bless you, Africa.
