Really happy with the training leading up to Port Mac this - TopicsExpress

Really happy with the training leading up to Port Mac this weekend. I have worked hard on developing a reduced reliance on simple sugars with my training. I am so wrapped that I can now go for a 2.5hr run in the hills around home and take on board nothing but water. So I have a fat black or double shot espresso and out the door I go. Additionally on the bike I have halved the nutrition that I normally take on board. This has lead to no reduction in pace, watt output or fatigue in the back end of rides/runs. So I plan on using this strategy into the Ironman this weekend. Additionally as you guys know I do not carbo load, so I will eat my normal diet leading into the race, as I have focused on post session nutrition to maximise my glycogen stores and not overflow the sink into ironman week. I must stress that this takes time and patience, like anything worthwhile. You need to make good choices with your food in your day to day nutrition and teach your body to use fats as fuel. This is an everyday process. Rosco
